GAME PURPOSE

  • What is this game exactly?  Originally a board game - now available as a single deck for virtual play too! - for 1-6 players with three core outcomes in mind: 1) more deeply connect with co-workers while 2) developing emotional intelligence and 3) increasing engagement with work. This is accomplished through responding to prompts based on 4 phases of the Mindful Leadership Model: Awareness, Attention, Intention, and Action. It all started with a book on the model which eventually led to the moment of realization that we often best learn by doing and that an experience would perhaps best land the concepts.
  • What is The Mindful Leadership Model? The Mindful Leadership Model (MLM) is a framework developed by Pure Ambition to actualize emotional intelligence, the practice of increased self-awareness and regulation in concert with better social awareness and impact. You don’t need experience with the model to play the game. The game is designed to help you learn.
  • How familiar with the model do I have to be to play (or use with my clients)? There is no better way to learn the model than through playing the game!
  • Why play?
    • Our 24/7 always on global environments are making it more challenging than ever to make time for real connection – a human need. 
    • We hold that everyone is a leader regardless of title. This experience is designed to support holding that truth so that everyone can embrace their innate leadership capability with more ease and confidence.
    • This experience creates opportunities for team members to open up and share vulnerabilities, a proven path to creating more engagement and connection in the workplace.
    • Whether playing with a group you know at work or you are meeting for the first time, this will increase trust through deepening your understanding of one another.
    • As artificial intelligence (AI) continues to take hold, the demand for technical (math and science) skills is on the decline while social skill competencies are on the rise. What better way to build these competencies than by active learning!
    • Workplaces continue to struggle with conflict. The path to improving relationships starts with self-awareness and self-management while people typically look to external factors to explain challenges. This game intends to help everyone see their part in creating the impact and outcomes their roles require – increasing personal accountability to results and evoking more courageous action in service of same. ☺  
    • Training investments are too often lost due to a lack of integration into day to day environments. A hands-on experience with others increases learning retention.
  • Who will benefit from playing? This game has been played by intimate executive teams to total strangers at a conference. From entrepreneurial women to students at Cal. From before and after care teachers to engineers. From professional services sales reps to professional coaches. And many examples in between. In all cases the feedback is consistent: players gain a deeper insight about themselves, those they played with and appreciated time to be thoughtful, reflective AND forward thinking about their work.
  • How do you win? The object of the game is to collect cards as you journey through the model. While the idea is that everyone wins, we get it – some people need to compete when they play games. If this is you, the game rules include how to collect points along the way.

GAME RULES

  • What if I have more than 6 players? Time is the main considerations here. If you have a leadership team of 8 certainly may use your own additional tokens (paperclip, binder clip, etc. for example) and alter the play. OR, skip the board altogether and draw cards from whichever quadrant(s) you want to work on: awareness, attention, intention or action.
  • How do you win? The object of the game is to collect cards as you journey through the model. While the idea is that everyone wins, we get it – some people need to compete when they play games. If this is you, the game rules include how to collect points along the way.
  • Are there alternate ways to play? Yes! The game rules include alternates and we’re continuously hearing new ideas from others! Stay tuned for updates!
  • What is the purpose of the board? While this game could be played with the cards alone, that would defeat some of it’s purpose. It’s designed to gather people together and dive in to some serious play. The board provides a tangible process increasing depth, engagement, and thus retention. And, yet that is clearly an alternate way to play if you are short on time or have other uses.
  • Where can I find an extra set of rules? You can download the rules here. 

PURCHASE ALTERNATIVES

  • Is it possible to buy the cards separately? Currently we are only offering the base deck in combination with the full game. Companion decks are sold separately. 
  • Will there be a virtual version? We are planning to look into how to create a virtual experience that  this in 2020, yes! Stay tuned!
  • Do you have a bulk discount? We are planning to implement a formal program for this in 2020. However, if you have a specific need we would love to discuss it with you. Please reach out!

  • When will the additional companion decks be released? We expect the timeline to be released soon along with pre order options. Stay tuned! 

RETURNS, DEFECTS, MISSING ITEMS:

Returns: If you aren't satisfied with your purchase please return your product within 30 days. If longer than 30 days, please email us at mindfulwork@pureambitionconsulting.com and we'll review your extenuating circumstance.Please ensure your item is in the original packaging with no missing pieces or damage. Once your return is received and inspected, we will send you an email to confirm receipt. A credit will be applied via your original method of payment, within 5 days, upon confirmation goods have been received in good condition, or in alignment with our agreement, if different.

Exchanges: If you receive an item that is defective or damaged we will happily exchange it for the same item. Please send us an email at mindfulwork@pureambitionconsulting.com letting us know you about the product issue.  We will issue an Return Merchandise Authorization #. Please reference and include the original packing slip with your item to: Pure Ambition, PO Box 10416, Oakland CA 94610, United States. Upon receipt, a credit for shipping will be applied via your original method of payment, within 5 days of return receipt and new product will be shipped free of charge.

Please consider using a trackable shipping service or purchasing shipping insurance. We don’t guarantee that we will receive your returned item.

Missing Items: Please email mindfulwork@pureambitionconsulting.com and let us know any items missing from your shipment. We will send the missing item to you ASAP.

All games should include the following: Board,134 Cards with Prompts, 18 Bonus Play Cards, Player's Guide, 6 tokens, Dice, Sand Timer | Ideal for 1-6 players | Suitable for ages 16+   

All other products are single item. 

SHIPPING POLICY:  All items are shipped within 2 business days via USPS Priority Mail, usually in a medium flat rate package (game + companion deck).
